Minutes of the General Meeting held Sept 19th, 2007

1) Call to Order:

 

Alistair Beaton called the meeting to order at 19:05 hours.

 

2) Agenda:

 

The Agenda for the Meeting was read by Alistair Beaton. Suggestions to add items to the Agenda were noted.

 

The motion to accept the Agenda was proposed by Capt. Don Tranter, seconded by Ralph D’Rozario and all present voted in favour.

 

3) Minutes of Previous Meeting:

 

The minutes of the previous General Meeting held on March 21st, 2007 were read and the motion to accept the minutes by Roy Sluyter seconded by Capt. Don Tranter voted in favour by all present.

 

4) Old Business/Matters arising from the last General Meeting:

 

Boat Cruise – Unfortunately due to scheduling difficulty the Boat cruise has been postponed indefinitely. 

 

HMS Conway Reunion- Don Trantor gave a brief summary of a well attended and successful event.  The Association’s donation of $250 went to purchase wine.  

 

Alistair attended Capt. George Vancouver’s 250th Anniversary ceremonies in the UK.  There were functions held in Vancouver but no Waterfront people were invited.

 

 

5) Executive Highlights / Director’s Reports:

 

At the Board Meeting held on September 17th 2007, the following items were discussed:

·         Contribution towards a wreath  to commemorate Remembrance Day

·         Sponsorship of the Company of Master Mariners Tea Social at Remembrance day.  The Association will contribute the amount of $150.

                               

·         Membership Director’s Report:

 

We have received a completed application by Don Kimura.  This will be forwarded to Pat Haliburton. 

 

·         Treasurer’s Report:

 

Our balance in our ING Direct account as of September 19th, 2007 is $5,270.85.

The balance in our chequing account as of September 19th, 2007 is $2,077.22.

 

28 Members have paid their 2007 dues and 5 members are outstanding.  Capt. Paul Urbanski #93 has not yet paid his 2006 dues.  Regular notices have been sent and assurances given that payment will come shortly.

 

A cheque will be given to the Company of Master Mariners for the Tea Social at Remembrance day will be the amount of $250.  

 

A wreath will be purchased for Remembrance Day as well.  

 

The Members present did not have any objections.
