Diving in on Water Conservation

North Fraser is a key, player in' the successful Introduction of a revolutionary cleaning system for our valuable drinking water systems.

Andrew Korek, owner of Phoenix Marine Services, says North Fraser's involvement is vital to the introduction and acceptance of this process. "Our international offshore business was dramatically affected following 9/11 and it, was necessary for us , to diversify our business. Without North Fraser's involvement the introduction of the process would have taken much longer!

Phoenix is leading the way in Canada using vacuum equipped divers to maintain drinking water reservoirs. The system, which is widely used in the United States, can clean a large reservoir in a matter of hours. In the past the only way to clean, a reservoir was by draining it a then sending in a crew to manually remove the sediment.

Clive Nash, Manager of Waterworks for the City of Abbotsford is delighted with the service. "The project was a complete success and I will not hesitate to ask for future bids on inspection and cleaning projects. I can see a real cost benefit in this process, not to mention the time saving aspects."

This innovative approach of cleaning water reservoirs offers a significantly streamlined, environmentally friendly cleaning process while exceeding all regulatory requirements. Utilizing the commercial diving expertise of Phoenix Marine Services, municipalities are able to demonstrate significant advantages in saved time, water, money and personnel resources.
